Family Workshops Set at Cal Lutheran
The fourth annual “Celebrate the Family†conference--a five-hour series of workshops for parents that will cover topics ranging from step-parenting to sibling rivalry--is scheduled for Saturday at Cal Lutheran University.
Using maxims on the institution of marriage as a sounding board, the keynote speaker, Dr. Richard A. Reinhart, will examine differences in the way men and women think. Reinhart is the chief psychologist for the County of Ventura Mental Health Services.
Other sessions will focus on aiding children in developing values and dealing with anger while helping parents effectively discipline and communicate with their children.
The conference, which is sponsored by Amgen Inc. and Baxter Health Care, targets parents, educators and child-care providers.
Registration forms can be obtained form the Conejo Recreation and Park District at 155 E. Wilbur Road in Thousand Oaks.
The fee is $20 per person and $30 per couple if registered before Monday. Free child care will be available for children from 2 to 12 years old.
The conference will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
