Insurance Companies Victimize Homeowners
It was with some interest that I read the article by Timothy Williams, “Quake Repairs Run Headlong Into Stonewalls†(Jan. 18). Homeowners at Kingsbury Court Condominiums, Granada Hills, located in the middle of a ghost town, have had similar problems. Although ample insurance coverage was obtained by our homeowners association, the insurance company has avoided making appropriate payment for almost two years.
Some homeowners have lost their homes and life savings as a result.
Homeowners all over the Valley are having similar problems. Two years after the earthquake, buildings remain fenced off and boarded up. Perhaps Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky and the County Board of Supervisors should expand their focus from the San Fernando Courthouse to the incredible pain and suffering of their constituents as the result of the stonewalling of insurance companies.
