Despite Siders and Frank, Santa Clara Coasts at Pepperdine
Lisa Siders had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Jenny Frank added 16 points and 10 rebounds, but Pepperdine lost to Santa Clara, 78-63, Friday night in a West Coast Conference women’s basketball game at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu.
The Waves (8-9, 1-4 in conference play) made only 33.9% (21 of 62) of their shots, making just three of 11 three-point attempts.
Lisa Sacco had 18 points for the Broncos (8-9, 2-3), who made 27 of 63 shots (42.9%).
Santa Clara made four of seven three-point shots and sank 20 of 29 free throws while Pepperdine made 18 of 31.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 81, Cal Lutheran 70--Evi Orolagas had 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Regals (7-10, 3-2) in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference loss at Cal Lutheran.
Missy Rider added 14 points for Cal Lutheran, which forced 23 turnovers but hit only 24 of 69 shots, including four of 18 three-pointers.
The Athenas (13-5, 5-1) outrebounded Cal Lutheran, 46-30. Center Mindy Bagatelos had 20 points for Claremont.
The Master’s 55, Redlands 45--Kim DeVries scored 18 points for the Mustangs in a nonconference game at Redlands.
The Master’s (4-13) forced 32 turnovers and made 58% of its shots in the second half.
Amy Williams scored nine points and Raman Andrews and Sara Herkenhoff each added eight for the Mustangs.
Shawna Shelburne scored 13 points and Sonia Delgado added 12 for Redlands (6-12).
