The La Reina High girls’ soccer team extended its league unbeaten streak to 48 matches Friday, but the Regents came home without a victory.
La Reina settled for a 0-0 tie at Bishop Diego in a Tri-Valley League match.
“We just pounded away at them but nothing went in,” said La Reina Coach Joe Lareneta, whose team outshot the Cardinals, 28-8. “We hit the post, the crossbar, the referee and our own kids.”
Last week, the Regents (10-3-2, 2-0-2 in league play) lost a chance to break the Southern Section record for consecutive league victories when they were tied by St. Bonaventure. Westminster La Quinta set the record at 46.
