Mosquito Abatement Panelist Reappointed
The Moorpark City Council reappointed David Austin to the Moorpark Mosquito Abatement District.
Austin, who is retired, beat out two other candidates for the post. He has served on the board since 1994 and city officials have commended him on his monthly reports regarding district actions.
The district, which is responsible for reducing the number of nuisance insects such as mosquitoes and poisonous spiders, also oversees field equipment and an entomology laboratory in the city.
Austin is the one member of the five-member board who is appointed by the City Council. The rest of the members are appointed by the County Board of Supervisors.
Austin’s term is set to expire January 1998.
