The four-day holiday period--at $109 million the top-grossing King holiday weekend ever--was a big one for Universal’s futuristic thriller “12 Monkeys,” starring Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt. “12 Monkeys” debuted last month on only three screens but expanded this month, catapulting it to the top of the box-office chart. A sleeper, Miramax’s “Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood,” scored the highest per-screen average of all the movies out this weekend, with $9,537.
