Westside : Central Los Angeles : 2 High Schools Get Scholarship Funds
Fatburger Corp. has awarded scholarship money to two Crenshaw-area high schools.
Dorsey and Crenshaw high schools will each give a $1,000 scholarship at the end of the academic year to students who excel in both athletics and academics, according to Bonnie Poindexter, a spokeswoman for Fatburger.
Derrell Spann, general manager of Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, where Fatburger recently opened a restaurant, said that “from day one they have wanted to take part” in community affairs. “I thought it was a pretty nice gesture.”
Fatburger officials said they will be giving the $1,000 scholarships to the two schools annually.
