3 Killed, 2 Hurt in 3 Separate Gun Attacks Over 3-Hour Period
Three people were fatally shot and two others were wounded in three separate attacks in a three-hour period in Long Beach, a police spokesman said Monday.
“To have three shootings or three homicides in one evening in our city is highly untraditional,” said Josef Levy, a spokesman for the Long Beach Police Department.
The first shooting occurred about 9 p.m. Sunday at a bus stop at 7th Street and Dawson Avenue, Levy said. Officers found a 22-year-old man dead at the scene, Levy said.
About an hour later, 19-year-old Alex Alenci Vargas was shot in the 1400 block of Henderson Avenue, Levy said. Vargas died at St. Mary Medical Center.
Shortly before midnight, a woman was killed and two men were wounded in a shotgun attack in the 100 block of East 55th Street, Levy said. Miesha Ridgell, 20, of Los Angeles, died at the scene, Levy said, and the men were admitted to hospitals.
