PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : Packer Coach in Serious Condition
Green Bay wide receiver Coach Gil Haskell was in serious condition with a head injury after being hit in a sideline accident during the game.
Haskell’s head struck the artificial turf at Texas Stadium when Cowboy safety Darren Woodson blocked flanker Robert Brooks out of bounds and into the Packers’ 51-year-old assistant late in the second quarter.
The game was delayed for about 10 minutes while medical personnel placed Haskell in a neck brace and onto a stretcher. He was conscious and responsive on the way to the hospital, accompanied by his wife, Nancy.
The crowd gasped when replays showed Haskell’s head striking the ground violently.
Jennifer Coleman, spokeswoman for Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, said team physician Dr. John Gray was with Haskell. She said Gray requested that no further information be released.
