Central Los Angeles : Bilingual Volunteers Sought for Hotline
Bilingual volunteers are being sought for a 24-hour hotline of the East Los Angeles Sexual Assault Program.
The program is sponsored by Avance Human Service, which provides education about AIDS and help for sexual assault throughout the county.
Volunteers field calls from victims of sexual assault and spousal abuse and provide crisis intervention, said Carolyn Marron, the volunteer coordinator.
Counselors receive 45 hours of training at Santa Marta Hospital in East Los Angeles, starting Feb. 6 through March 6, and then will be asked to do two 12-hour shifts a month.
For information, call (213) 526-5819.
