INSIDE & OUT : Glass Lamp District

Give your room a charge with handblown glass lamps by John Hutton for Donghia.

Created by twisting, pulling, blowing and pinching molten glass, Hutton’s lamps are fluid, with simple lines.

There are three styles in the collection. The Vaso ($1,000) has a sinuous, high-waisted silhouette planted atop a chiseled glass base. It is available in three muted tones--olive green, sherry or black--resurrected from 16th century Venetian school paintings.

The Ondoso ($1,166) has gentle undulations that slide up the length of the lamp. It is offered in gold dust, amber or cognac.

The Corda ($1,667) has molten strands that are twisted, via an age-old technique, to appear like a thick rope of barber pole stripes. The lamp comes in olive green, amber or clear with bubbles.

Each lamp has two sockets with pull cords for standard light bulbs and is crowned with a glass ball finial. An array of shades ($290-$459) is available.

Tangled Up in Blue

First it was jeans. Now ever-popular denim is being fitted for bedding and bath linens.

Guess has added jersey cotton to the fold for towels and, later this spring, sheets.

The linens, designed by Guess executive Michel Benasra, have the same soft, muted look of the Los Angeles-based company’s clothing line. It’s almost like wearing your favorite jeans and T-shirts. The linens--which range from $4 for a washcloth to $32 for a bath sheet--are 100% pre-washed cotton.

The Guess home collection is available at Bullock’s and at Guess home stores in Beverly Hills and the Beverly Center.

Bridal Basics

One way to avoid receiving four toasters, three blenders and two Cuisinarts as wedding gifts is to register your wish list at Pottery Barn.
