Chris Ortega, 11, will be honored Thursday by the Fountain Valley School District Board of Trustees for his recent top award in the statewide Hispanic Heritage Art contest.
Chris, a sixth-grader and art student at Fulton Middle School, entered the contest, themed “Hispanic Influence to California’s History,” last fall.
Of thousands of entries from schools across the state, 24 were selected as winners. Of those, Chris took the third place award.
His poster is framed and on display at the Los Angeles County Children’s Art Museum. His prizes in the contest, sponsored by McDonald’s Inc., include a certificate, a medal and art supplies.
