Sun Valley : Auto Repairman Faces Overbilling Charges
A Canyon Country man was charged with multiple counts of theft and insurance fraud Tuesday for overbilling repairs at his Sun Valley auto-repair shop, Los Angeles City Atty. James Hahn announced.
Larry Paul Boland, 64, is accused of allegedly overbilling Mercury Casualty Insurance Co. for windshield repairs at his Lankershim Boulevard business, D & L Auto Glass, according to Deputy City Atty. P. Greg Parham.
Parham said the charges stemmed from an undercover sting operation conducted by the California Bureau of Automotive Repair in conjunction with Mercury Casualty.
On three occasions, Boland submitted claims to Mercury Casualty that were as much as $185 more than D & L’s quoted price for windshield repairs, Parham said.
Boland is scheduled to be arraigned Feb. 8 in Los Angeles Municipal Court.
