MDC Research Opens State-of-the-Art Facility
A maker of devices designed to reduce accidental needle wounds among health-care workers has completed construction of a state-of-the-art, 3,000-square-foot clean room in Ventura.
The facility on Bunsen Avenue will be operated by MDC Research Ltd., a subsidiary of Med-Design Corp., headquartered in Philadelphia. The parent company’s stock went public in June.
The clean room will be used to produce needle-safety products in a particle-free environment. At first, employees will assemble the units by hand, with automated assembly planned if demand warrants.
James M. Donegan, Med-Design’s chairman, president and chief executive, said his company has filed pre-market notification with the Food and Drug Administration for two new products--a blood-collection needle system and a catheter system.
He said the filings, “coupled with the completion of our clean room, bring us much closer to beginning pilot manufacturing of our products.”
