LOG ON L.A. : The Reel Deal: Where to Find Favorite Screenplays Online
Film buffs can find more online than just gossip and trivia. In fact, there’s a treasure-trove of screenplays just sitting there for movie fans. Some are rare pre-production drafts, others the exact versions used for filming, while yet others look and feel like transcripts.
One of the best collections is the Hall of the Big Bad Barbarian’s https://pages.ripco.com:8080/bbb/scripts.html. The script selection includes the entire series of “Stars Wars,” “Aliens,” “Terminator” and Monty Python pictures. You’ll also find “Blade Runner,” “Interview With the Vampire,” “Batman Forever” and others.
The Entertainment Media Archives script page https://www.ccn.cs.dal.ca/Recreation/EMA/ scripts/scripts.html has some duplicates of scripts found on the Barbarian page, but you’ll also have access to comedies like “Airplane!” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction” and “Reservoir Dogs” and the Disney classics “Aladdin,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Lion King” and “The Little Mermaid.” Miscellaneous favorites such as “Stand by Me,” “True Lies” and “Die Hard” are also included.
If after reading these scripts you feel motivated to compose one of your own, you’ll find plenty of companionship in the Usenet discussion group misc.writing.screenplays.
Usenet groups and the World Wide Web are also available through America Online (Keyword usenet or web); CompuServe members (Go usenet or netlauncher for the Web) and Prodigy (Jump web or usenet). Remember to type all addresses with upper- and lowercase letters as shown.*
