In Garden Grove League girls’ basketball:

Garden Grove 41, Santiago 40--Kathy Moore made a layup with 14 seconds remaining to complete the comeback for Garden Grove (6-4, 1-0), the defending league champions. Santiago had one more possession but turned the ball over.

Angie Ching-Sam had 17 points for Santiago (4-10, 0-1), which led by five with four minutes remaining. Sara Monsoor scored 12 points for Garden Grove.

Rancho Alamitos 46, Bolsa Grande 43 (OT)--Keisha Loue hit a layup at the buzzer to send the game into overtime for Bolsa Grande (5-6, 0-1), but Rancho Alamitos outscored the Matadors 8-5 in overtime for the league victory.

Melissa Loera led Rancho Alamitos (3-10,1-0) with 15 points and Araceli Hernandez added 12.

In girls’ nonleague soccer:

Valencia 3, Glendora 1--Natalie Lytle, Alejandra Nunez and Beth Leverett each scored a goal for Valencia (6-3-2). Lytle scored off a corner kick from Rachel Ferrari, and Leverett, after assisting on Nunez’s goal, scored the final goal off a throw-in from Alison Tavianini.
