Storm-Drain Work Will Be Continued
Completion of storm-drain improvements is among projects that the city government will tackle in 1996, City Manager Fred Maley said.
Contracting was begun last fall for drainage-related development in the northeast part of the city. That area suffered flood damage during torrential rainstorms a year ago.
“These are storm-drain improvements for the gully that’s behind Valley Drive,” Maley said. Street repairs and improvements are also scheduled, he said, as “part of our continued annual street maintenance.”
The city manager said the fiscal outlook for city government in the new year appears to be good.
The prospects are bright too for continued city-county operation of the Villa Park branch library, Maley said. The library branch was threatened with closure last year, but city and county officials worked out a last-minute arrangement that depends on partial city funding and volunteer workers.
