In the championship game of the Grossmont tournament:
Saddleback 65, Utah Valley State 57--Saddleback (13-0), off to the best start in school history, was led by tournament MVP Shanna Renken, who had 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Che-Ron Walker, who also was on the all-tournament team, had 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Saddleback plays host to Irvine Valley in the Orange Empire Conference opener at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
