Man Badly Beaten, Abandoned

LA HABRA — A man was seriously beaten and abandoned on a sidewalk Christmas night, police said.
A passerby called police after he stumbled across the man, Adan Vasquez, about 10:15 p.m. The caller originally thought Vasquez had collapsed unconscious from drinking, but officers turned the man over and discovered he had suffered several blows to the head, Sgt. Phil Stufflebean said.
“He was beaten so severely that his face caved in,” Stufflebean said.
Vasquez was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was listed in critical condition, Stufflebean said.
Police have not determined a motive. Investigators ask anyone with information to call (310) 905-9777.
