Student Council Visit Welcome by Neighbor
* Anybody ready for some good news to offset the deluge of bad news that floods the media regarding the Los Angeles Unified School District?
This week there was a knock on my door, and there stood a smiling band of elementary school children, accompanied by their principal, Marge Ann Roten of Stagg Street School. This was a very welcome visit by the student council members, who politely introduced themselves, then handed me an invitation to a sing-along program at school.
This is neighborhood outreach at its best. Thirty-five years ago my own children attended Stagg Street. It was great then, and it is great now, with a forward-thinking and dedicated principal and staff.
