Southern California may no longer be the promised land of sports that it was when the Dodgers and Lakers moved west. But if interest in new stadiums and arenas is any guide, the Los Angeles area is not fading as a sports town, but in transition. Football stadiums to lure replacements for the departed Rams and Raiders are the main action. This map shows locations being mentioned as sites for new stadiums and arenas, as well as planned renovations of existing facilities.

Dodger Stadium: Football stadium may be built in the parking lot for an NFL expansion franchise sought by Dodgers owner Peter O’Malley.

Rose Bowl: The city of Pasadena would like an overhaul of its famous but aging football stadium.
