NEWBURY PARK : Old-Fashioned Yule Celebrated at Inn
- Share via
No tinsel, no icicles, no strings of lights. Those are the rules at the Stagecoach Inn in Newbury Park, where Christmas is being celebrated throughout the month with a display of old-fashioned trees.
The Conejo Valley Historical Society is inviting the public to visit the museum for spiced cider and cookies every Sunday until Christmas.
Members of the society have decorated a number of trees throughout the inn, including a Victorian-era tree with shiny baubles and paper ornaments.
Inside the Timber School, a rebuilt 1889 schoolhouse, local schoolchildren have decorated a tree with gingerbread men, red berries and yarn puffballs.
The inn itself is wrapped in evergreen garlands and red bows.
“It looks just like a big Christmas package,” said Miriam Sprankling, the museum’s historian.
The exhibits are open Wednesdays through Sundays, 1 to 4 p.m., but the edible goodies are only offered on Sundays.
The museum is at 51 S. Ventu Park Road.
