Accidents Leave Drivers Hurt, 2 Horses Dead

Two Sunday evening accidents on rural Ventura County roads seriously injured at least one motorist and left two horses dead.
About 6 p.m., a pickup truck struck a tree off California 33, about six miles north of Rose Valley. The driver, whose identity had not been released Sunday night, was pinned in the vehicle and had to be removed by Ventura County firefighters.
The driver was taken to Ojai Valley Community Hospital with facial injuries and possibly broken ribs. The cause of the accident was under investigation Sunday night.
The second accident occurred about 8 p.m. when three horses apparently jumped in front of two vehicles on California 150 near the intersection with Sulphur Mountain Road. One driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to Ojai Valley Community Hospital, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Two of the horses were seriously injured and had to be destroyed, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.
