Water Polo Games Split Up, Moved

The Southern Section Division II semifinal water polo doubleheader originally scheduled for Belmont Plaza tonight has been split up and moved.
Top-seeded Costa Mesa (21-4) will play fourth-seeded Esperanza (14-14) at 3:15 p.m. today at Newport Harbor High. Second-seeded Servite (21-7) will play third-seeded Marina (22-6) Saturday at a site and time to be determined today.

Wendy O’Brien of Irvine has signed a letter of intent to swim for California, Novaquatics Coach Dave Salo announced Thursday.
O’Brien was the Southern Section Division I champion in the 50 and 100 freestyle events in 1995. She also won both events in the Division II championships in 1994.
