A worker at a housing construction site escaped from a small landslide Thursday with minor injuries.
The female worker, who was not identified by project developer Taylor Woodrow Inc., was treated at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center for a pulled muscle and released.
About 9 a.m., the woman was standing midway up a slope at the construction site off Villa Entrada near La Novia Avenue when vibrations from nearby heavy equipment caused the crest to collapse, company officials said.
The earth fell over the woman, burying her waist-high. Workers standing nearby rushed to her rescue and dug her out.
“It was a little panicky at first, but fortunately she is doing fine,” said Adrian Foley, development manager for Taylor Woodrow.
The woman is an employee of Sukut Construction of Santa Ana, a contractor hired by Taylor Woodrow to grade the site for what will be a tract of single-family houses.
