Vandals destroyed three of the landmark green pagodas that shade park benches along Venice Beach this week, police said.
According to witnesses, the group was allegedly drinking and using narcotics when they began to hang from the pagodas’ support beams and then pushed them over, said LAPD Officer Bill Hallett. The pagodas are along Ocean Front Walk at Sunset Avenue.
Police are investigating the incident. One person, who may have been a bystander or a suspect, received minor injuries in the collapse of one of the pagodas, Hallett added.
