Jack in the Box, fine. Jack in South Pasadena, no, the City Council decided Wednesday.
After an evening of debate, council members voted 3 to 2 to reject a proposal for a drive-through Jack in the Box restaurant at the city’s main intersection at Fair Oaks Avenue and State Street.
“Jack’s back. But not in South Pasadena,” declared Mary Ann Parada, an opponent and city commissioner, seconds after the vote that denied the eatery its required permit.
