THOUSAND OAKS : Teachers Ratify 3.2% Pay Raise, 1% Bonus
- Share via
Teachers in the Conejo Valley Unified School District ratified a new three-year contract that includes a 3.2% raise, a 1% bonus and an expanded retirement package.
Nearly 90% of the Unified Assn. of Conejo Teachers approved the contract, which still must be approved by the school board.
If the board approves the contract Nov. 9, Conejo teachers will again be the highest-paid teachers in the county. The average teacher in the district earns about $45,000 a year.
The contract is retroactive to July 1 and runs through June 30, 1998. Provisions include the addition of two extra paid days to the school year, provided there is state money to fund them.
Teachers took a 3% pay cut last year when the district was faced with financial trouble. Prior to that, teachers were working under a contract that gave them a 20% pay raise over three years.
