Clipper center Stanley Roberts, who had been held out of practice after reporting to training camp overweight and out of shape last month, practiced with the team for the first time Tuesday.
Roberts, who said he has passed two physical exams, said he’s fit to play in Friday night’s season opener against the Phoenix Suns at the Sports Arena.
“He’s passed all that but he hasn’t passed the Fitch test,” said Coach Bill Fitch, who last week threatened to suspend Roberts without pay if he wasn’t in shape to play. ‘The doctors never run up and down the floor like Stanley has to.”
The Clippers waived free agents Shawn Jamison and Tony Maroney to reduce their roster to 14.
