Newspaper Weekday Circulation Falls: Weekday circulation fell at seven of the nation’s 10 biggest metropolitan daily newspapers in the latest six month period, according to a new report. The Los Angeles Times, the New York Times and Washington Post were among the newspapers posting declines in Monday-through-Friday circulation for the six months ended Sept. 30, according to data from the Audit Bureau of Circulations. The Chicago Tribune, Houston Chronicle and Dallas Morning News posted weekday gains. Circulation declines at big metropolitan newspapers are partly the result of newspapers’ calculated decisions to raise prices and cut back on deliveries far from their home bases. The declines included 8.5% at Newsday and 4.7% at The Times.
