COLLEGE ROUNDUP : San Diego Topples UCI Women in Soccer

The UC Irvine women’s soccer team, ranked 14th in the nation, was upset by San Diego, 1-0, in a nonconference game Wednesday at Irvine.
The Anteaters (12-1-2) outshot the Toreros, 15-9, but San Diego goalie Allison Worden had 10 saves.
The only goal came with about 25 minutes remaining, when San Diego’s Shawn Viloria-Burns scored in traffic from in front of the net.
Viloria-Burns, from El Toro High, is a transfer from San Diego State. San Diego is 8-5-1.
UCI plays host to San Diego State Friday at 7:30 p.m.
In Mountain Pacific Sports Federation water polo:
UC Irvine 10, Long Beach State 4--Matt Maunz scored two goals for Irvine (11-4, 5-0), ranked fourth in the nation. Kip Parsons had two goals for seventh-ranked Long Beach (7-9, 2-5).
Irvine scored three goals in each of the first two quarters to lead, 6-3, at the half. Tom Davis made eight saves for UC Irvine, which plays host to top-ranked California at Heritage Park at 7 p.m. Friday.
In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s soccer:
Southern California College 4, Biola 1--Lori Van Herk had two goals and an assist for visiting Southern California College (11-6, 5-2). Megan Conner and Meggen Fleener also scored for SCC. Biola is 0-15, 0-8.
In nonconference women’s soccer:
Chapman 1, Cal Baptist 0--In the fourth minute, Cindy Le Clair scored her 18th goal off an assist from Natalie Kaylor for host Chapman (12-4).
Le Clair holds the single-season record of 20 goals set last season. Chapman goalie Rachel Bush posted her eighth shutout.
