The Region : New Chief Financial Officer for House of Fabrics

House of Fabrics Inc. named John E. Labbett as chief financial officer and executive vice president.
The Sherman Oaks-based operator of retail fabric and craft stores said Labbett, 45, will be responsible for all treasury, cash management, management information systems and accounting functions.
Before coming to House of Fabrics, Labbett was chief financial officer and vice president of Pet Food Giant Inc. in East Brunswick, N.J.
House of Fabrics operates 364 company-owned House of Fabrics, So-Fro Fabrics, Fabricland and Fabric King stores. The company and its subsidiaries filed to restructure under Chapter 11 last November.
* Retix has named Tom Tang as senior vice president of development and production and Philip Mantle as senior vice president of sales and marketing. Both officers will report to Joe Stephan, president and chief executive of the Santa Monica-based supplier of equipment for networking software systems.
* Santa Monica-based Tenet Healthcare Corp. has appointed Michael H. Ford as senior vice president of acquisitions and has named David R. Mayeux as senior vice president of venture development and support, heading a newly created department.
* Compex Inc., an Anaheim-based maker of Ethernet networking products, has named Edward (Woody) Hale as president.
Hale replaces Dwaine Robison, a co-founder, who recently left the company with Howard Goh, former chief financial officer and co-founder, to pursue other interests.
