Sun Valley : Alarcon Urges City to Rename Boulevard
- Share via
Los Angeles City Councilman Richard Alarcon introduced a motion in City Council on Wednesday to change the name of one stretch of Sunland Boulevard to Sun Valley Boulevard.
The affected portion of the street extends from Sherman Way to Stonehurst Avenue.
Alarcon made the proposal at the request of Sun Valley residents and business people who felt that the name change would strengthen Sun Valley’s community identity and distinguish it from the Sunland community, according to his council office.
“Sun Valley is a community of good, hard-working people,” said Alarcon, who grew up in Sun Valley. “Sun Valley believes in itself, and renaming Sunland Boulevard to Sun Valley Boulevard will further enhance the identity of this community, and increase our pride in all the good things taking place, day in and day out, in our community.”
A public hearing will be held before the full council considers the motion.
