Hundreds of tools will go on sale Sunday at the Salvation Army’s Van Nuys location with proceeds benefiting an adult rehabilitation program at the site, organizers said.
According to Dan Lyle, director of operations, items for sale will include every variety of hand tool as well as larger instruments such as lathes, compressors and generators. Prices on the donated goods will range from as low as $1 to approximately $100, he said.
“We don’t get that many tools donated,” Lyle explained, noting that sales of such items only happen periodically. “Tools aren’t really common donations.”
Also on sale Sunday will be recently donated clothing, furniture and various bric-a-brac at the thrift store, Lyle said. Funds raised from the sales will support the Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Center, an 81-bed drug and alcohol treatment facility.
Clowns will be on hand to entertain visitors and free refreshments will be served. A drawing will be held for gift certificates to area businesses, said spokeswoman Leslie-Anne Quinn.
The sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Salvation Army’s Van Nuys Thrift Store, 6059 Van Nuys Blvd. For more information, call (818) 778-1177.
