A full-term baby boy was found dead in a Lennox trash can Thursday, and the mother faces a possible murder charge, sheriff’s officials said.
Sheriffs’s deputies were called by county firefighters about 2:15 a.m. to the 4200 block of West 106th St., where they found a woman who had just given birth and was bleeding profusely, said Sheriff’s Deputy Britta Tubbs. The woman’s name was not released.
Sheriff’s detectives found the body in a plastic bag in a trash can in the back yard with a cord--not the umbilical cord--wrapped around the neck, Tubbs said.
The 24-year-old woman was taken to Centinela Hospital in Inglewood for treatment. When her condition stabilizes she will be transported to the County-USC Medical Center Jail Ward, where she will be booked, Tubbs said.
