Antelope Valley 36, Grossmont 30--Antelope Valley, which led by 30 points at halftime, needed a game-saving tackle of Grossmont receiver Conan Smith at the Marauder four-yard line as time expired to win at home.
Grossmont (1-2, 0-2) marched from its own 37 in the final 70 seconds before Antelope Valley (2-2, 1-1) finally held.
Antelope Valley scored 24 points in the second quarter en route to a 30-0 halftime lead. C.J. Fagan had a pair of touchdowns, a 13-yard pass from Shawn Sharp and a 16-yard runs.
Fagan had six catches for 81 yards. Sharp completed 16 of 24 attempts for 164 yards and two touchdowns.
