Four men were arrested for allegedly robbing a 29-year-old Newbury Park man who believes the attack occurred because he is gay, authorities said Monday.
The victim, whose name was not released by officials, suffered minor injuries in the 3:45 a.m. beating Sunday but did not seek medical attention.
The four suspects allegedly used derogatory language against the victim for being gay as they beat and robbed him of his wallet in an alley south of Calle Diamonte in Newbury Park, authorities said.
Juan Garcia, 29, Enrique Cruz, 24, and German Garcia, 24, all of Newbury Park, and Sergio Mendoza, 26, of Anaheim were arrested Sunday for robbery and booked in Ventura County Jail, officials said.
