Lumme’s Goal in Third Period Beats Ducks, 4-3

VANCOUVER, Canada — Jyrki Lumme scored a power-play goal at 11:49 of the third period to give the Vancouver Canucks a 4-3 exhibition victory over the Mighty Ducks on Saturday night.
Vancouver’s Cliff Ronning also scored on a power play, deflecting a shot from the point past rookie goalie Byron Penstock at 5:51 of the third period. Russ Courtnall and Jeff Brown added goals for the Canucks (2-1).
Denny Lambert gave the Ducks a 3-2 lead with a power-play goal at 3:28 of the final period, and linemates J.F. Jomphe and Valeri Karpov also scored for the Ducks (2-2). Karpov failed to score on a penalty shot against Kirk McLean in the second period.
