GLENDALE — A 20-year-old Glendale man leaving a supermarket Tuesday afternoon was shot and killed by two teen-agers who walked away laughing, police said.
Alvaro Zamarripa was driving his car out of the Lucky supermarket parking lot in the 1000 block of South Central Avenue about 3 p.m. when the two youths, who wore baggy clothes and had shaved heads, walked up to the car and fired, said Glendale police spokesman Chahe Keuroghelian.
The gunmen, estimated to be about 15, were seen by witnesses walking away laughing, Keuroghelian said. Zamarripa was hit in the chest and died a short time later at Glendale Memorial Hospital.
