OUTLOOK

Vedder and Carr are battling for the quarterback spot. Cunerty is most excited about the defense, which has consistently stopped the offense in practice. Patton, who had seven interceptions last season, leads the defense. Ligons added five interceptions. Fackrell and Sulick return at linebacker. Ireland comes back after a year off at fullback.
