OUTLOOK
The Oilers played mainly sophomores last season and found out the hard way that experience is gained, not earned. Their lone victory came against Tustin, they lost their last six games and were outscored an average of 26-10. “We’ve gotten a lot stronger this off-season and we should be better,” Pascoe said. Huntington Beach may indeed be better, but probably needs another year to get beyond fifth or sixth place in league. At tight end Campbell (17 catches, 390 yards) is a definite threat. Masuda (23 catches, 275 yards) has a chance for a breakout season; that would take some pressure off Hoorebeke, a second team all-league selection (at defensive back). And their success depends on Pascoe finding a quarterback who can get them the ball. Most important, the Oilers need to find out quickly if they can stop people.
