OJAI : Clambake, Golf Event to Aid Boys & Girls Club
Supporters of the Boys & Girls Club of Ventura hope to raise tens of thousands of dollars through a golf tournament, auction and clambake in Ojai on Sept. 11.
Proceeds from the 12th annual Golden Oaks Invitational, a sold-out golf tournament at the Ojai Valley Inn and County Club, will benefit the youth organization.
“It is one of our bigger fund-raisers,” spokesman Doug Caldwell said.
Among other things, the club provides educational programs and outdoor activities for local youths. The Boys & Girls Club of Ventura operates on a $750,000 budget.
More than 160 golfers are signed up for the tournament. Tickets are still available for the clambake, which costs $45 a person and will include a wide array of gourmet foods, as well as a comedy show.
During the clambake, organizers of the event will auction two spots in the exclusive Lexus Champions for Charity Golf Tournament in Palm Springs. The tournament is held at three of the desert city’s top golf courses.
Reservations for the 6 p.m. clambake must be made in advance by calling 641-5585.
