AT&T;, Motorola Win PrimeCo Contract: Dallas-based wireless communications venture PCS PrimeCo said it will split a $1-billion equipment supply contract between the companies to build the backbone of its advanced cellular network that will link 11 cities by the end of 1996. The order is the largest so far for the infrastructure equipment necessary to build cellular networks capable of providing wireless voice and data services. PCS PrimeCo is a joint venture owned by Bell Atlantic, Nynex, US West and AirTouch Communications. AT&T; won contracts covering PrimeCo’s six Southeastern license areas, including Miami; Richmond, Va., and Houston. Motorola was awarded contracts in the remaining five PrimeCo areas of Chicago, Milwaukee, Dallas, San Antonio and Honolulu, PrimeCo said.
