Fullerton Man Killed in Bus Stop Shootout
LONG BEACH — A 23-year-old Fullerton man was killed in a shootout Monday at a bus bench, authorities said.
The man, whose identity was withheld by police pending notification of his family, was sitting on the bench in the 2400 block of Anaheim Street about 3 p.m. when another man walked up to him and began to fire, said Darren Lance, a police spokesman. The Orange County man fired back, Lance said.
The assailant, who apparently was not injured, fled in a white compact car through an alley parallel to Anaheim Street onto Junipero Avenue, Lance said. The Fullerton man was taken to St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, where he died.
Investigators did not know what motivated the attack.
Police are asking anyone with information about the shooter to call (310) 570-7244 or (310) 570-7236.
