World IN BRIEF : BERMUDA : Hurricane Felix Doubles Back
Hurricane Felix, which hovered off the Eastern Seaboard of the United States after churning across Bermuda, doubled back and could threaten the Atlantic island again, forecasters said. The National Hurricane Center in Miami said Felix was located 260 miles northwest of Bermuda at 5 p.m. EDT Saturday. The storm had winds of 80 m.p.h. and slowed to a near halt after changing direction to take a southeasterly course. “Felix is not dissipating and is already causing problems for mariners here,” Bermuda Weather Service spokesman George Parkes said. By Saturday afternoon most airlines had canceled flights in and out of Bermuda’s international airport.
