13 Held in Slayings at Colombian Dance Hall
BOGOTA, Colombia — Thirteen members of a right-wing paramilitary group have been arrested in the shooting deaths of at least 14 people in northwestern Colombia, the Colombian army said Wednesday.
They said the suspects were detained Tuesday night in connection with Saturday’s attack on a dance hall in the town of Chigorodo in the notoriously violent Uraba district.
In a statement Monday, a previously unknown paramilitary group called Commandos for a Popular Alternative said the attack was in reprisal for the shootings of six people in a nearby town by leftist guerrillas.
