PALMDALE — A man drove his car into a parked motor home early Sunday, killing his 16-year-old passenger and injuring himself and two others, authorities said.
The driver, 24-year-old Scott Koth of Littlerock, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, said Deputy Donna Levi of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The accident took place just before 4 a.m. on 35th Street East near Thomas Avenue in Palmdale. Koth made a wide right turn in his Mazda 626 onto 35th Street East and slammed head-on into the parked motor home, Levi said.
A 16-year-old boy, whose name was not released pending notification of his relatives, was killed instantly, she said.
Two girls, 15 and 16, and Koth were treated at Desert Palms Hospital for moderate injuries and released, Levi said. None of the victims was wearing a seat belt, she added.
The investigation is continuing, she said.
