Valleywide : Luncheon to Promote Community Activism
Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan and City Councilmen Richard Alarcon and Mike Feuer will speak at the Valley Leadership Institute’s first annual recruitment luncheon this month on the importance of citizen involvement in city issues.
Proceeds from the luncheon will be used for scholarships for the institute’s 1995-96 session, which begins in October.

Candidates for the program must work or live in the San Fernando Valley and have a strong history of volunteer involvement.
Tuition is $1,250 per person, with partial scholarships available.
Past graduates of the nine-month program include Alarcon and Bonny Capobianco, executive director of the Valley Industry and Commerce Assn.
The luncheon will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 24 at the Texaco Conference Center, 10 Universal City Plaza, Universal City. Cost is $25 per person.
