BECKLEY, W. Va. — Jurors took just 20 minutes to convict a man who matter-of-factly testified how he fatally shot his father, hacked the body into small pieces and stuffed them into cardboard boxes.
William Bradford, 44, was also found guilty of raping his stepmother. The convictions could bring him life behind bars when he is sentenced Sept. 1.
Prosecutors said Bradford shot his father, James Bradford, 68, last year, used an ax to hack the body into 21 pieces, and then stuffed them into boxes in a nearby shed. They said Bradford was seeking revenge after his father accused him of stealing $5,375 worth of property.
