FULLERTON — Law enforcement officers were looking for an inmate who escaped Saturday while assigned to a work crew away from the Orange County Jail.
Eduvar M. Rojas, 23, of Fullerton had been arrested on misdemeanor charges and is not considered armed nor dangerous, said Sheriff’s Lt. Larry Abbott. His last known address was in Anaheim, the lieutenant said.
Rojas was assigned to a work crew at a facility at 1230 Valencia Drive when he escaped, Abbott said. He apparently had stripped off his blue cotton jail-issued shirt and left it behind, Abbott said.
Sheriff’s deputies and officers from the Fullerton and Anaheim police departments were searching both cities Saturday, using a bloodhound, a helicopter and field units.
“It’s not like we’re doing a manhunt,” Abbott said, “but we do have 12 officers assigned to” the search.
